SUHAKAM Report on impacts of 50 Years of BN rule on Natives

Independent candidate for Kota Belud
constituency, Kanul Gindol
KOTA BELUD : Journalist-activist Kanul Gindol, who is standing for election in May 5 general election, has called on the Federal and State Governments to immediately release SUHAKAM Report on Impacts of 50 Years BN Rule On Natives.
We have been made to understand that the UMNO-led ruling party Barisan Nasional  suppressed the release of SUHAKAM's Report fearing its backlash ahead of the national election.

Kanul, 47, is an independent candidate using "key" as his symbol seeking to be elected as parliamentarian for Kota Belud.
He is involved in a five-cornered tussle between Abdul Rahman Dahlan of BN, Munirah Majilis (PKR), Jalumin Bayogoh (STAR) and another independent Lamsil Hamidsor.
Kanul said the release of the SUHAKAM Report on the impact of 50 years of BN rule on native peoples is a damning report confirming the frauds committed on Sabah and Sarawak by various action and non-action by Malaya.

We can no longer stand by and allow the "wayang kulit" / charade of neo-colonial "independence in Malaysia" to blight our two countries by dispossessing and disenfranchising our people with population engineering and Malayan foreign control.
Many shared with me that the Suhakam Report confirms that 50 years in the Malaysia Federation has done vast damage to Sabah and Sarawak's once harmonious pluralist and secular society, denied them of opportunities to move ahead, not to mention the lost virgin land and environment.

This was brought about by the various apartheid-style socio-political and economic policies and systems, planned as colonial plunder of Sabah and Sarawak and the disenfranchisement of the bona fide people in the two Borneo's states, but masquaraded under many good-sounding names by the evil-most politicians we have ever known.
The formation of Malaysia (original concept was a union of five independent countries as equal partners) was justified by only one argument - that Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak would enjoy "security from foreign invasion and prosperity".

Ironically, under Malaysia, the native peoples became "coolies in their own land".  The prophetic words of Sarawak's second Rajah, Charles Brooke, almost 100 year ago has become fact.

Over 50 years ago in 1962 and 1963, the Borneo people and even President Sukarno of Indonesia condemned Malaysia as a neo-colonial creation to transfer British colonial power to UMNO Malaya.

But despite the people's opposition and armed resistance (the anti-Malaysia Brunei Uprising December 1962 and Sarawak people's guerrilla independence war 1962-1990) Britain in cahoots with Malaya went ahead to form Malaysia, with the innocent hope of a young naive Borneon generation.

There was never any "security from foreign invasion" guaranteed by being Malaysia. We now know that UMNO let down its guard on border security enabling the Suluks to invade Sabah and then shamelessly claimed credit that UMNO government can best defend Sabah and Sarawak as seen in its suppression the invaders.
I am calling on my fellow Sabahans to think hard when they go to the ballot box, not to fall for the ever-sweetening promises from outsiders-led parties who are right now dying for a few parliamentary seats from Sabah' 25 and Sarawak 's 31. Please vote for your fighters, and not the compromisers.

Soon after they won seats here, they would forget their pledges,as the past 50 years, to the people in Sabah and Sarawak. Remember half of the Malaya's population have already rejected UMNO-led BN, and that another half is not yet convinced either of a better coalition under a PKR-led Pakatan Rakyat.

We Sabahans, then must not merely follow the wind blowing in Malaya but send those fellow Sabahans who would stand up for their rights and the liberation of the states from a hegemonising central power.

    1. There are currently two state based opposition and a whole lot of local independent candidate with their various aspirations and ideals. Collectively how will these group of people will function as a single governing body if the mandate is given to them? Looking at Pakatan Rakyat's attempt to mimic the Barisan Nasional coalition but had already failed given the difference in ideologies carried by each componen party and placing their party's interest instead of the interest of their so-called coalition. They have doomed their cause at the infancy of their coalition. This is evident given the recent developments that have demonstrated that PAS is going at it with PKR in various seat.

    2. TELL US ANOTHER JOKE!

SABAH SARAWAK WERE FORCED INTO MALAYSIA-AT GUNPOINT.

THE PEOPLE WERE PRESSURED & COERCED BY BRITAIN/MALAYA WITH SCARCE CAMPAIGNS & DID NOT FREELY VOLUNTARILY CHOOSE MALAYSIA

Dec 8 1963- the Borneo people took up arms to fight against the British Malayan imposition of Malaysia in the anti-Malaysia Brunei uprising followed by Sarawak independence guerrilla war till 1990.

Malaya invaded Borneo with 60,000 strong British army to suppress anti-Malaysia Uprising. That was how important it was for Britain to preserve their influence over Borneo colonies.

Britain avoided holding a referendum and held the Cobbold Commission of Enquiry to legitimise the Malaysia concept. So the people were never given the chance to say “yes” or “no”.

Malaysia was hastily formed 8 months after the Brunei Uprising and while fighting in the jungles was still going on. This means Britain and Malaya was bent on ignoring the people's opposition to Malaysia.

The original Malaysia concept of 5 independent countries as equal partners was dead when Brunei refused to sign the Malaysia Agreement and Singapore left in 1965. Again Sabah and Sarawak were not consulted and not allowed any option to consider leaving or staying in Malaysia as in the British failure to hold a referendum.

Foreign companies like UMNO controlled Petronas and multinationals like Shell have exploited and robbed Sabah and Sarawak blind for over 45 years.

Tun Razak and the Tunku were Britain's agents in implementing British consolidation of British colonial interests in Borneo.

At the same time UMNO wanted to implement its Melayu Raya Agenda which we now see in the mass import of illegals as new "Malays" to dominate Sabah and Sarawak. That was why the Tunku tried to use the “racial balance” argument to win over the native Bornean people.

In 1960s Sarawak Malays = <15% of total population
Sabah "Malays"= 0.04% of total population

Now in both colonies "pseudo" instant "Malays" = >50% “bumiputra”

Although the Suhakam report talks about the people's sufferings it serves to confirm that this suffering happened in Malaysia over 50 years because Sabah and Sarawak were re-colonised and plundered by Malaya.

WE CALL ON NAJIB TO RELEASE THE SUHAKAM REPORT!

Don't try to fool us with your false history!

It is a universal principle that all nations have the right to independence.

Malaysia is a denial of Sabah Sarawak independence.

This issue will never be resolved until Sabah Sarawak leaves Malaysia for independence or you could say Malaya could leave Malaysia.

Either way- NO SABAH, NO SARAWAK, NO MALAYSIA.

That is why Sabah and Sarawak are so important to UMNO and Pakatan!

    4. The International Monetary Fund has revised downwards the world economic growth to four per cent and world trade to 5.8 per cent due to the economic slowdown in the United States, Europe and Japan, inflationary pressures due to rising commodity prices, the European debt crisis as well as slower world trade.

    5. These global developments would certainly have a direct impact on the Malaysian economy. However, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has noted that economic growth in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam is likely to remain robust at 5.9 per cent on the average by 2016 from five per cent estimated for this year as these countries increase investment and spur domestic demand.

    8. The growth, he said, was driven by expansion in the domestic economy, which remained robust, and this momentum was expected to increase by end of this year spurred by a more vibrant private consumption and investment.

    9. This year’s growth, he said, was estimated to expand between five per cent and 5.5 per cent while economic growth in 2012 for Malaysia is projected at between five per cent and six per cent.

    12. “This is the biggest expenditure ever in the state’s financial history, and one of its objectives is to stimulate economic growth by improving basic infrastructure and public utilities for the benefit of the people and investors,” he said.

And yesterday, the Chief Minister also announced that the total cumulative investment committed under the private sector-led Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) projects has reached RM63.16 billion as at November this year while the realised investment amounted to RM16.05 billion.

These figures, he said, did not include new SDC entry point projects identified following the Regional Cities and Corridors Lab which were expected to be announced during its open day scheduled for early next year.

“I am also pleased to announce that out of the total allocation of RM1.27 billion for SDC projects during the 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP), a sum of RM1.01 billion had been channelled to SEDIA as at November 30.

“A total of RM958 million or 94.02 % of the total allocation disbursed to SEDIA has been spent as at December 5 as payment for work and services rendered for SDC projects listed under the 9MP but carried over into the 10th Malaysia Plan,” he said.

Musa added that the balance of the outstanding allocation was expected to be channelled to SEDIA next year and that during the Second Rolling Plan commencing next year, SDC would be given an allocation of RM416 million – RM206 million for 2012 and RM210 million for 2013.

    14. SEDIA’s programmes under the Second Rolling Plan will be guided by the SEDIA Corporate Plan 2012-2013 and during this period, it would place greater emphasis on measures to realise planned investment and promote investment in industries with the potential to generate higher value-add to Sabah’s economy.

      These include the following:

      1: Setting up Investment Liaison Offices/Satellite Offices in designated locations/clusters to provide business support services;

      2: Customise investment incentives and develop non-fiscal packages to attract investments;

      3: Develop a Research and Development network, clearing house and database to exchange and share information and fast-track access to expertise;

      4: Provide support services for Public-Private Partnership programmes;

      5: Develop SMEs, agro-entrepreneurs and start-ups through business-links to provide business support services, and incubator programmes to support start-ups;

6: Facilitate foreign investors to partner or enter into joint ventures with GLCs and SDC

7: Monitor, review, and co-ordinate the implementation of projects under the SDC and the Greater Kota Kinabalu Economic Transformation Programme.

The Chief Minister also called on upon members of the committee to assist in ensuring that all planned investment and development projects under the SDC were effectively implemented in line with the role of SEDIA as a one-stop-authority.

The state government, he said, may also consider having SEDIA to function not only as the one-stop-authority for SDC, but also as the central agency for investment promotion and fast-tracking approvals in Sabah

Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Youth and Sports Minister, State Secretary Sukarti Wakiman Finance Ministry’s permanent secretary, Datuk Pengiran Hassanel Pg. Haji Mohd Tahir, director-general of Public, Private Partnership Unit of Putrajaya, Datuk Dr Ali Hamsa and state director of Economic Planning Unit, Datuk Ismail Abdullah and SEDIA CEO Datuk Dr Mohd Yaakub Haji Johari.

  13. SABAH NEED MORE FROM BN : Back BN on merit, not blindly

The 82 km Kota Kinabalu-Ranau road project, which is featured in the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto for Sabah, proves the government's commitment in championing the people, particularly those in the rural areas, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The prime minister said since he took over the reins of government four years ago, he made every effort to transform the country through various stages, including planning, implementation and achievements.

He said Sabah had followed suit in championing the people's welfare as reflected in the state's report card.

"The people of Ranau and Sabah can read the report card and evaluate the success of the state BN government as well as mine.

"I want the people to gauge the BN government based on merit. I do not want the people to support BN because all the people are supporting BN.

"I do not want the people to support BN blindly. I want the people to support BN based on merit because we are the best party to lead Sabah and Malaysia," he said at the gathering of people at the Ranau Community Hall here Wednesday.

Najib said the opposition did not dare to ask the people to judge them on merit, but rather threw lies and tried to make them confuse.

"Their sweet-talk is laced with poison because they are trying to mislead the people of Sabah and Malaysia. We have introduced the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), but they want to abolish it. In our pledge (aku janji), we promise to increase BR1M.

"They say they want to lower oil prices, but if oil prices are lowered, we've got to add a lot of subsidies which have already ballooned to RM23 billion a year. When we lower oil prices, the rich, tourists will benefit, but when we handed out BR1M, a lot of people benefited from it and our economy expanded.

"When we give out BR1M, the farmers' market in Ranau enjoys brisk business, vegetable sellers get profits and our economic grows because domestic demand increases," he said.

On the upcoming polls, Najib said the BN needed a strong mandate to ensure a stable government.

"This is the main question before us. Personalities and candidates are secondary.

"When the government is strong, God willing, we will be able to achieve a high-income developed country status," he said, adding that if a rousing welcome for him in Sabah was anything to go by, he was confident that the people would give the BN a strong mandate. Brushing aside the opposition's claim that they will capture Sabah, Najib said, "If the state BN government is on the verge of collapse, there must be some signals, perhaps when I travelled anywhere in the state, not many people come to meet me. If I were to extend my hand to shake hand, not many people were interested to shake my hand. Maybe, when we shouted 'Tatap BN' (surely BN), there was hardly any response from the people.

"Instead, everywhere I go, the people come to shake my hand to the extent that some did not want to let go his hand and when we shouted 'Tatap BN, thousands of people shouted along," he said.

Present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, and BN candidates for the Ranau parliamentary seat Datuk Dr.Ewon Ebin, Datuk Masidi Manjun (Karanaan state seat), DUN Datuk Sirigan Gubat (Paginatan state seat) and Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam (Kundasang state seat).

  21. HIDUP BN UMNO! SUPPORT BN RULE TO THE END!

SUHAKAM REPORT IS A PACK OF LIES! OPPOSITION “PATRIOTS” ARE LYING ABOUT “NEGATIVE BN 50 YEAR MISRULE”!

Fully support pro-BN comments made here! BN is doing the right thing!

Reject what the critics are saying that Malaysia has failed to provide “security and prosperity to Sabah” and calling loyal BN supporters as “traitors” as totally false!

For example it was recently reported that Sabah Proham member Simon Sipaun said:

“I have seen houses of poor villagers which had been burnt by enforcement personnel. They lost their padi, gongs, documents, etc.

“What sort of uncaring government is this?

Corruption is rampant and getting worse. Many rural people have no access to health, medical and educational facilities,” he said.

He added that Singapore which was kicked out in 1965 should be thankful that it was ejected from Malaysia and noted that Brunei was wise for opting out.”

We all remember how shocking and outrageous it was to all Malaysians when he said “life was better in Sabah before 1963″.

It was a great shame for us even if this statement was absolutely true. But why?

Such comments are designed to make BN look bad. BN is doing its best to raise Sabah from the last 50 years of poverty caused by plundering of Sabah under British colonial rule! It will take more than another 50 years to rectify the damage to our economy done by the British plunder. So the people must be patient and wait for development Dr. Mahathir correctly assessed.

      SABAH HAS AUTONOMY!

The Opposition is jumping up and down about “autonomy” but PM Najib says they are still intact! It is a shame someone said that “a virgin raped cannot be intact”!

They constantly scream about their 20 Points Agreement and that it is Sabah’s right to control its resources and finances. They need to understand while all agreements are binding the reality is that for any government to function it must have regular revenue and Sabah possessed much resources which as Dr. Mahathir said still need to be exploited for Malaysia’s development.

Thus it was necessary for our UMNO BN Government to take strong actions to improve the economy with the Petroleum Development Act 1974 to take control of Sabah and Sarawak oil and land (Felda scheme and others) to implement the NEP positive discriminatory system to benefit the bumiputras and install the cabotage system which are run efficiently by Government Linked companies.

The privatisation of communal land is an important step to create income for the land owners. It is a shame that many owners do not understand and resist the government’s positive acts of taking land for development. It is unclear who burnt the poor people’s villages and the BN government would never take such drastic actions despite the allegations.

SABAH CONTRIBUTE 25% TO MALAYSIA DEVELOPMENT

Thanks to an average of RM$150 billion annually from Sabah and Sarawak great improvements in infrastructures have been made in “Malaya” as the opposition loves to call our mainland Peninsular.

These improvements have raised the international profile and reputation of our motherland Malaysia. Look at the Twins Towers and Putra Jaya which the envious critics call the Sabah Sarawak Twin Towers and shamelessly “Putridjaya”.

At least we can take pride that our oil money contributed to these world famous buildings even though they are not in Sabah or Sarawak.

Sabah is only contributing about 25% ($70 billion) in total oil and tax revenue for Malaysia’s development. It is an honour to make this sacrifice as it shows our loyalty to Malaysia and UMNO BN government.

It has been very generous of the BN to grant us RM4.5 Billon last years for our development. The rest of the funds have to be shared with Sarawak and the other 11 sisters peninsular states. This is a responsibility Sabah and Sarawak must bear as a price and honour to be the 12th and 13th state of Malaysia.

Our esteemed Dr.Mahathir did say Sabah and Sarawak are like “colonies” and that they have to wait for development. Now as these bloggers’ comments on this page and elsewhere are saying more improvements are on the way and we should not complain!

We understand that Dr. Mahathir has a strong sincere personal interest to promote the welfare of Sabahans and Sarawakians with his family and associates Government Linked Companies which are specially favoured to generate income for these companies which will trickle down to the poor people in terms of employment etc.

Dr. Mahathir as the PM for 22 years had revived the Bakun Dam with Sarawak CM Taib and through his GLC’s have completed the Dam which now supplies electricity to benefit the aluminium smelter in Mukah.

This Bakun venture involving both the good Doctor and CM Taib’s GLCs. Their GLCs made over RM20 Billion and this helps to keep the money in the country so foreign companies don’t take our the profits. This is also what CM Musa Aman has been doing for Sabah. We should appreciate that they are so patriotic and caring for our young country of only 50 years!

The allegations of environmental damage pollution and health hazards are being tackled. This will happen if we have to industrialise and bring the people out of their underdeveloped state of existence. The Mamut mine disaster caused by Japanese mining over 20 years ago was even worse and this is also being fixed up.

Sabah must make sacrifices so as to develop the whole country.

It is a price we have to pay to be in Malaysia.
